Packages for Slackware 13.1

After the release of Slackware 13.1 in May, I rebuilt all my packages on newly installed VMs over the last few days (nights?) and uploaded them to my site.
Most SlackBuilds have been “migrated” from the 13.0 to the 13.1 repository with only cosmetic cleanups, and the packages have been rebuilt for i486 (32-bits) and x86_64 [...]

XSpaceWarp, or: converting old source code for modern compilers

How it all started
On the TRS-80 mailing list I subscribe there was a discussion about an old (from 1977!) game I used to play on my TRS-80 Model I called Space Warp. This game was originally called “Time Trek”, based on the popular television series Star Trek. When Tandy/Radio Shack released this game commercially, [...]

Geeqie released as stable 1.0 – Packages available

Already a few weeks ago the Geeqie team released the first stable version of this image viewer, a fork from gqview, included in many Linux distributions.
The original gqview program had some bugs, but development had stalled some time ago. But lucky for us, some guys picked up this project and created a new program that [...]

Benchmarking with nbench

Since I was doing some tests with Slackware running on different platforms (Slack/390, Slack/390x, ArmedSlack on Qemu, etc.) I wanted to compare the performance of the different setups.
I used a (quite old) utility called nbench that was originally written in 1995 but still is a simple way to compare how processors perform, emulated or real. [...]
